The expanded meeting of the civil society organizations, including participation from Gaza via “video conference” today Sunday, recommended to form a crisis committee to oppose the procedures of the executive authority breaching the public rights and freedoms, especially its constant violations against charity associations, non-profit companies, and the civil work in Palestine in general.
The meeting discussed these assaulting procedures against the Palestinian citizens, the last of which was issuing a decision regarding the Social Security law and proposing a draft resolution of the electronic media before the Cabinet, in addition to the constant resolutions of the Cabinet concerning the charity associations, non-profit companies and private companies with public interests that breach the constitutional rights and international standards.
The meeting also studied the government methods and violations in response to the demands and syndical causes of the teachers, ignoring the demands of the farmers and the poor and marginalized groups. It also affirmed that the government should assume its responsibilities in supporting and strengthening the steadfastness of the citizens over their land.
The civil society organizations reject the executive authority’s procedures and its violations against the Palestinian civil society. They also criticized the ignorance and lack of transparency in the legislations and public policies leading to the deterioration of the rights and liberties and a crack in the overall political system which threatens the social and civil security.
The meeting also discussed the violent assaults of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian nation and the Palestinian organizations especially as Palestine is dealing with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the importance of the supporting role these human rights organizations could play. It also discussed the increase in the settlements and the apartheid policies particularly in occupied Jerusalem.
During the meeting, it was decided to start a wide and quick movement in cooperation with different segments of the civil society to deal with the procedures of the executive authority including the parliamentary blocs, political parties, syndicate and labor unions, mass media and all other facilities to accumulate the public opinion against these procedures breaching the obligations of the state of Palestine in accordance with the international human rights conventions it has acceded to without any preservations. It is thus obliged to implement them on the political and legislative level in addition to the practical implementation.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network (PNGO), the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council, The Coalition for Accountability and Integrity (AMAN), the Independent Commission for Human Rights “Board of Grievances” (ICHR), and the Women’s Technical Affairs Committee (WATC).
