Hurryyat Condemns the Decision of the Israeli Occupation Authorities to Close Palestine Today TV

The Center for the Defense of Liberties and Civil Rights “Hurryyat” condemned the invasion of the Palestine Today TV by the Israeli Occupation Authorities in Al-Bireh, the confiscation of the properties of Transmedia Company and the closing of the channel due to incitement justifications. It also condemned the Israel’s persistent violation of the journalistic and media liberty in Palestine as an attempt to terrorize and silence the national voice preventing it from documenting and exposing the occupation crimes and from transferring the true facts to the international community and the international public opinion.

Hurryyat also considers the decision of closing the TV Channel a crime breaching the international Humanitarian Law and the international legitimacy of human rights especially the freedom of speech.

Hurryyat asserted that the targeting of Palestine Today TV, Al-Aqsa Channel, local radios, social media activists, and the continuous incitement against the official Palestine TV and attacking the journalists by shooting or arresting them, all aim to terrorize the Palestinian media, journalists and citizens in general in order to dissuade them from their natural role in transferring the daily crimes, field executions and unprecedented aggressions on military checkpoints against our nation. It’s also considered as an immediate implementation of the decisions of the Cabinet of Netanyahu Government and acting in accordance with the racial incitement growing among the Israeli society, religious men, Right-wing parties and different forms of media.

This official Israeli policy that incites against and targets the Palestinian media should be condemned by the international community, the Federation of International Journalists and the international human rights organizations to hold the Israeli government the responsibility for its repercussions and serious consequences and to take concrete steps to deter this aggressive policy incompetent with the simplest rights in ensuring the Freedom of Speech.
