Hurryyat Demands the Immediate Release of Prisoner Yusri Al-Masri Suffering Critical Health Conditions

The Center for the Defense of Liberties and Civil Rights “Hurryyat” demands the immediate release of sick prisoner Yusri Al-Masri without further delay, and calls upon the international human rights organizations, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the World Health Organization (WHO) to urge the Occupation Authorities release him immediately due to his critical situation.

Hurryyat holds the Israeli Government, along with the Israeli Prison Services (IPS) and their medical staff, fully accountable for the life of sick prisoner Yusri Al-Masri who is exposed to slow death due to the policy of medical negligence practiced against him depriving him of proper treatment. He is currently diagnosed with three tumors in the liver; one has grown from 12 to 16 mms, and the other from 7 to 8 mms, while the third one has reached 24 mms. The prisoner has been diagnosed with two other lumps in the stomach and colon, and is currently suffering from dyspnea and constant vertigo, along with general fatigue. He is also suffering from swollen lymph nodes, inflammation of the oral mucous membrane beneath the lower denture (denture-related stomatitis), a swell in the left kidney, massive pain in the chest and abdomen due to sleep deprivation and the lack of proper food, and also suffering from retinal degeneration (rhodopsin mutation) causing possible blindness due to protein abundance in the retina.

The IPS medical team does not provide prisoner Yusri with any medication other than painkillers, they just remotely supervise his medical situation denying the entry of any private doctor to examine him. The medical report of Ramla Hospital Prison doctors did not report the patient’s critical situation to the Prison administration negatively affecting the possibility of his early release which contradicts with the need for immediate release accepted by the IPS.

The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society are spending tremendous efforts demanding the parole of Yusri, but they are in grave need of additional support in the Third Circuit held on 27\06\2016 where the prisoner completes 14 years of his 20 years sentence. It is thus crucial to stir a popular, governmental, and non-governmental movement along with international pressure by Secretary General of the United Nations, and all the human rights organizations to force the Israeli Government into granting him early release.
